This post is all about postpartum meal prep ideas. I'm almost 39 weeks pregnant and checking off my final to-do's from my nesting list! I'm also hoping to breastfeed and want to make sure I'm fueling my body with nutrients that are going to help support my milk supply. In this post I'm sharing postpartum meal prep ideas that were recommended by friends, family, Instagram followers, and recipes I found on Pinterest!

Postpartum Meals to Freeze
Warm foods are very healing for postpartum so chili and soups were highly recommended for postpartum meal prep. Someone recommended prepping these ahead of time and keeping them in the freezer to easily warm up in the crockpot. Since my baby is due in the fall, I loved this postpartum meal prep idea! I searched Pinterest for make ahead crock pot recipes and listed my favorites below.
- Soup
- Chili
- Lasagna
- Casseroles
- Trader Joe's frozen meals
Postpartum Snacks for Breastfeeding
I've learned from other breastfeeding moms how important it is to stay hydrated and consume sufficient calories to keep up your milk supply. Many women told me that they experienced constant hunger while breastfeeding and recommended having easy to grab snacks nearby at all times. The most common recommendations included oatmeal, protein bars, and electrolyte drinks. I've linked the postpartum snacks for breastfeeding recommendations I received below.
Having a kitchen stocked with ready-to-go meals makes transitioning into this next phase of life a little less nerve wracking! Meal planning and grocery shopping is the last thing I want to worry about while learning to take care of a newborn, so I'm really glad I took the time to do this before I go into labor. I hope this post gave you some postpartum meal prep ideas! I'm wishing you a safe birth, healthy baby, and positive postpartum experience! Thanks for reading!
