We moved into this house on June 1st, 2019 knowing that we eventually wanted to update all of the bathrooms (along with EVERYTHING else in the house!). Over the past year and half we have removed wallpaper, painted, and completed minor projects to elevate the look of our home. Between graduating, starting a new job, getting married, and my husband’s long and unpredictable work hours, I wasn’t sure when we would be able to get into some of the bigger projects that we wanted to do. When my husband offered to start demo on our guest bathroom during his time off from work after the holidays, I was SO excited because I was always a bit embarrassed when guests would come over and need to use the restroom. No matter how much I tried to clean it, the old materials always just looked so gross. Now that our bathroom is complete I can’t wait to have guests over and show it off! This post is all about our guest bathroom renovation.
I am the worst about forgetting to take before pictures, so here are some “during” pictures that Kevin took…
Kevin removed everything from the bathroom and replaced the bathtub, plumbing, flooring, toilet, vanity, and light fixtures. Because he works in construction everyone thinks that he is a professional home remodeler, but he actually works in road construction and teaches himself how to do these projects! Of course, there are little imperfections if you look really closely but the thousands of dollars we save from doing these projects on our own is totally worth it! I am so thankful that he takes the time to figure out how to execute all of my ideas ♥
This vanity was the heaviest thing ever!! Kevin thought he would need 3 other guys to help him get it into our house but we were able to move it just the two of us (with the help of a roller dolly)! We did bust a few small holes in our wall but we will deal with that later….
I had so much fun designing and decorating this bathroom! I wanted to mix different styles and I think I ended up with modern, boho, with a little bit of farmhouse? I love an eclectic look!
A must-have in this bathroom was a handheld shower head so that we could easily bathe our dogs. I am so excited to take a bath in this tub too!
I have always wanted a shower niche!
Shelf styling is one area of decorating that I really struggle with. I am just not skilled in finding random objects that look nice together. My goal is always to decorate with functional items that we will actually use. That way I’m not spending money on random items that will sit on a shelf for a few months until I get sick of looking at them. Plants and crystals are my favorite accessories to decorate with. They are so pretty and just make me happy!
I ordered this shelf to hang on the wall above the light switches and outlet but it is currently on back order. I plan to use it to hang another hand towel and display my essential oils on it. I’ve been diffusing orange and grapefruit in here (inspired by our shower curtain).
I didn’t realize this was a lazy Susan when I purchased it and it’s a little wobbly so I might find something else to put here, but for now I think it’s really cute!
Almost everything that I purchased for this bathroom is from either Target or Amazon. I will leave links for everything below but if you can’t find something you’re looking for, feel free to reach out to me on Instagram and I will try to find it for you!
