Affordable Christmas Decoration Ideas
1. wrapping paper basket
You know how much I love functional decor and this is an excuse to show off your cute Christmas wrapping paper all season long. Throw your tape and scissors in the bottom of the basket and you have a wrapping paper station that doubles as DIY Christmas decor on a budget!
2. ornaments
You can buy a huge assortment of Christmas ornaments for a great deal from Michael's or Hobby Lobby. Just look out for their seasonal sales! Put the ornaments in a decorative bowl or large glass jar to make an affordable Christmas decor center piece for your table. I put battery operated twinkle lights in the bottom of the bowl to add some extra magic!
3. dried oranges
This is quite possibly the cheapest Christmas decoration possible, plus it makes your house smell so good! Click here to read my tutorial on how to create a dried orange garland.
4. framed Christmas puzzle
If you enjoy putting puzzles together, this is a fun and budget friendly way to create affordable Christmas decor for your home!
5. bottle brush trees
If you're looking for minimal Christmas decor on a budget, sprinkling bottle brush trees in with your current decor is a cheap way to decorate for the holiday! I've collected several of these over the years but I often get them from the Target dollar spot or Hobby Lobby.
6. candy canes
This is another functional Christmas decor idea! Create a hot cocoa station in your home and fill a mug with candy canes to make it look extra festive! You could even fill a cute bowl or jar with these and put them on your coffee table or entry way table.
7. garland
Although I believe a good quality faux garland is worth the investment to use year after year, you can still decorate a mantle with non traditional garlands such as pom poms, stars, twinkle lights, etc. You can even spruce up a sparse garland with eucalyptus from Trader Joe's.
8. Christmas mugs
Add some affordable Christmas decorations to your kitchen shelves or coffee bar with fun seasonal mugs! I can never resist buying a new Christmas mug every year. Might as well have it on display rather than stuff it in the back of your kitchen cabinets!
9. Faux flicker candles
Since it gets dark so early in the winter time, I love having battery operated candles set to automatically turn on as the sun starts to set. This makes your house feel so cozy, especially as it gets closer to Christmas time! This would be an item worth investing in to use every winter or honestly all year long! I love the ones linked above because the moving flame looks so realistic. Make sure to grab a few candle stick holders as well!
I hope this post gave you some affordable Christmas decoration ideas! Thanks for reading and Merry Christmas!
