The easiest way to clean your house naturally is with Thieves Household Cleaner. This single bottle of cleaning concentrate makes thirty 16oz spray bottles and can replace every other cleaner in your home. I use it for everything from toilets to kitchen counters and even in our carpet cleaning machine!
Thieves Soft Scrub
- 1 cup baking soda
- 10 drops lemon essential oil
- 1 capful thieves household cleaner
- 3 tablespoons water
Mix all ingredients together until it forms a paste. Use it to clean your sinks and bathtub and rinse with water. You can also spray vinegar over the mixture to make it fizzy and easy to scrub.
Lavender Dusting Wipes
I found the original recipe for this here and tweaked it a little
- 4 flour sack towels, cut into quarters
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 teaspoons vinegar
- 10 drops lavender essential oil
- Glass spring lid jar
You want these wipes to feel slightly oily but not greasy, and slightly damp but not wet. To achieve this outcome, you will want to add all of the ingredients into a spray bottle and give it a good shake before you spritz each towel. After spraying each towel with the liquid mixture, fold and stack them inside of the glass jar. These are perfect for dusting and polishing your wood furniture. I also use this to clean off our baseboards.
Thieves Wipes
- 2 cups water
- 4 capfuls thieves household cleaner
- 10 drops lemon essential oil
- 4 flour sack towels, cut into quarters
- Glass spring lid jar
Mix together the water, thieves household cleaner, and lemon essential oil and pour 1/3 of the mixture into the bottom of the glass jar. Next, fold the towels and stack the jar 1/3 of the way full until the liquid is absorbed. Continue stacking the towels to fill another 1/3 of the jar and pour more of the liquid over the top of the towels. Add the rest of the towels and pour the remaining liquid over the top.
Out of all of my natural cleaning recipes, this one is my favorite! I have made this in the past with paper towels but the dusting wipe recipe above inspired me to make this with flour sack towels. I love that this method is more sustainable and the texture of the flour sack towels leaves our appliances streak-free. I’ll use the same wipe throughout the day and hang it on the sink in between each use. At the end of the day I just throw it in the hamper with my other towels, wash them at the end of the week, and make another batch of wipes!
Rug Refresher
- 1 cup baking soda
- 20 drops eucalyptus essential oil
You can technically use any essential oil of your choice, I just think eucalyptus smells so fresh and clean! Mix the oils into the baking soda and use a sifter to evenly sprinkle it over your rugs. Let the mixture sit on your rug for about an hour to absorb any odors and then vacuum.
Shower Cleaner
This natural cleaning recipe and hack will save you so much time! By using this dish brush and stand, you can easily store it in your shower and give it a good scrub down while you are taking a shower. This is the best part about using completely natural cleaning solutions – you don’t have to worry about using gloves or breathing in toxic chemicals. Just fill the soap dispenser half way with thieves dish soap and the other half with thieves household cleaner.
Microwave Steamer
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup vinegar
- 5 drops lemon essential oil
Add ingredients to a microwave safe bowl and microwave until the mixture begins to steam. Microwaves times will vary but mine takes about 6-8 minutes. Remove the bowl using an oven mitt and hot pad as it may be extremely hot! I wash the plate in the sink and wipe inside the microwave with a rag.
Spray Mop Solution
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- 1 capful thieves household cleaner
- 15 drops peppermint essential oil
- Water
I use this refillable spray mop and fill the bottle with the ingredients above. The reason I choose peppermint essential oil is because it helps repel ants and spiders, but you can use any scent of your choice!
Room Spray
- water
- 1 tbsp witch hazel or vodka
- about 50 drops of essential oils
- this 4 oz glass spray bottle
Since oil and water do not mix, the witch hazel or vodka will help prevent the essential oils from separating and floating to the top of your room spray. I switch up the oils seasonally but I like to use a combination of a floral, citrus, and tree oil for a well balanced blend.
This bundle includes thieves household cleaner, a spray bottle, bucket, and five essential oils. You can find the rest of my favorite essential oils to use here!
