This post is all about how to decorate with fake flowers for spring and tips for making faux flowers look more realistic.
In the past I was never a huge fan of fake flowers. I always thought faux flowers looked a little tacky and just collected dust. Recently though, with the few warm days we’ve had of “fool’s spring”, I have have been seriously craving some fresh blooms. Since there aren’t any real flowers growing outside yet, I decided to create a spring faux flower arrangement for our home. I went to Michael’s and was blown away by how realistic some of the fake flowers looked! Once I got them home and started decorating with the fake flowers, I came up with a few ways to make them look more realistic. In this post I am sharing my tips on how to decorate with fake flowers and make them look real. I hope it inspires you to make your own spring faux flower arrangement.

Benefits of spring faux flowers
Fake spring flowers are perfect for the in-between period when you’re totally over winter but it doesn’t quite feel like spring. Since you can’t cut real blooms from your garden yet and store bought bouquets can get expensive, faux spring flowers are the best option! While quality faux flowers can be a bit of an investment, long term they will actually save you money if you’re not buying fresh flowers every week. I seriously feel like having these faux flower arrangements in my house has helped improve my winter blues!
How to decorate with fake flowers
It is really impressive how far faux flowers have come, but there are a few things you can do to make them look even more realistic! First, you want to make sure to separate and bend the stems in different directions. I feel like too many flowers on a single branch is a dead giveaway that they’re fake, so pull off a few flowers in areas that seem overcrowded. If your vase is glass, make sure to fill it with water. It feels silly, but trust me on this one. If you really want to take your faux flowers to the next level, grab a few stems from your backyard and mix them in with your arrangement! By using these tips, your guests will definitely ask “are these flowers real?!”
Spring faux flower arrangement ideas
Less is more when using fake flowers to create floral arrangements. It’s recommended to stick with one to two flowers and mix in some greenery. Visit your local Michael’s store or shop online to find affordable faux flowers that look very realistic. I chose peach blossoms and magnolia stems for each of my faux spring flower arrangements.
I hope this post gave you some ideas on how to decorate with fake flowers and inspired you to create a spring faux flower arrangement. Thank you for reading!
