I love every holiday but Valentine’s day is one of my favorites! I love adding little touches of flair to make things feel extra special, and I think that’s exactly what Valentine’s Day is all about. You don’t have to do anything too crazy but I think it’s fun to plan a special date with your significant other (or friends!!) to celebrate the day of love! This post is all about 5 at home date ideas for Valentine’s day!
1. Create an at-home spa
Ok this one you will probably only want to plan with your significant other, lol. Set up a cozy bubble bath with essential oil infused bath salts (ylang ylang, geranium, and lavender are all good options! Just make sure they are pure, therapeutic grade oils that are safe for your skin). You could even light some natural candles and put flower petals in the bath to take it to the next level. My favorite DIY face mask to put on while taking a bath is a mixture of this bentonite clay and apple cider vinegar (you can use water in place of ACV if you have sensitive skin). It pulls all of the dirt out of your pores and it’s perfect to put on in the hot, steamy bath when your pores are open! While you’re waiting for the mask to dry (about 10 minutes), give each other massages for the ultimate relaxing spa date!
2. Take out, but make it fancy!
Order takeout from your favorite restaurant but instead of eating it out of the to-go container on your couch, set up a pretty table scape with flowers and plate the food on your nicest dishes (or get festive Valentine’s day themed plates from the store… because, honestly, who wants to do the dishes after getting takeout). You could even get dressed up as if you were actually going out to a nice restaurant!
3. Casual cooking
If you would rather be cozy and comfortable while staying at home you could cook in your sweatpants! We love making our own personal pizzas and to make it festive you could form the dough into heart shapes! I also think it would be so fun to make your own sushi! Search on Pinterest for a new recipe that you both would love to try. Check out my Pinterest board with recipes here.
4. Charcuterie snacks
We recently got a Trader Joes where I live and one of my favorite things to do is go pick out a few snacks or desserts to try! I think it would be such a fun date to go there (or any grocery store) and each pick out a few things to try. When you get home, arrange them on a charcuterie board to eat and rate your most to least favorites!
5. Movie marathon or Netflix binge
Valentine’s Day is on a Sunday this year so if you want to take advantage of a full day to rest and relax, you could plan a day of watching your favorite movies or start a new Netflix series. My husband and I are currently trying to start The Crown. It’s honestly been a struggle to get into the first couple of episodes, but I know it’s such a popular series so I’m sure it gets better! Set up an area in your house with lots of pillows, blankets, snacks, and of course twinkle lights!
I hope these at home date ideas for Valentine’s day sparked some excitement to celebrate this year! Sending you all lots of love!
