Red White and Blue Recipes for the 4th of July

June 15, 2022

Every year I get so excited for the Fourth of July and coming up with creative ways to make every detail extra patriotic. In this post I am sharing 3 red white and blue recipes that are easy, delicious, and festive for the 4th of July!

This triple berry crumble skillet is officially my go-to dessert for the Fourth of July (or any backyard BBQ)! It takes less than 10 minutes to whip up and I love that you can cook it on the grill so you're not stuck in the kitchen. I originally found this recipe here but I'm sharing my own spin on it below.

TRIPLE BERRY CRUMBLE SKILLET

In a cast iron skillet, mix together:

sliced strawberries

raspberries

blackberries

1/4 cup of sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

a little lemon zest

top with crumble (recipe below)

crumble topping recipe:

mix together with a fork:

1 cup sugar

2 cups flour

1/2 cup room temperature butter

1 teaspoon salt

The crumble is the best part so make extra if you need to!

Baking instructions

cook over medium-low heat on a covered grill for about 15 minutes. Monitor to make sure your crumble doesn't burn! You can also bake it in your oven at 300 degrees.

We topped our warm triple berry crumble with vanilla ice cream but it would also be delicious with whipped cream! This is the the perfect red white and blue dessert recipe and a fun twist on the classic berry pie.

If you're looking for a healthy Fourth of July recipe, you can't go wrong with a fruit salad. But this isn't your basic fruit salad. We are stepping it up and making it extra festive by cutting our watermelon and apples into stars! Here is a set of star cookie cutters in different sizes. To keep your apples from browning, squeeze some fresh lime juice over the top of your salad. I know what you're thinking, you want your apples to taste like apples - not limes. Trust me though, the lime flavor in this fruit salad makes it even tastier. I also sprinkled in some fresh mint leaves along with blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries.

Is it even the 4th of July if you don't have a red white and blue drink? This year I decided to make these fruit infused ice cubes so everyone can add them to whatever they're drinking and feel fancy. Don't forget party straws! As much as I love the idea of these edible gold stars, they completely disintegrated in the freezer so it was a waste. They would be really cute on cupcakes though! Pro tip: make sure to boil water before freezing it for clear ice cubes.

I hope this post helped inspire you to add some patriotic flair to your Fourth of July recipe this year. If you're looking for more Fourth of July inspiration you can see my ideas from last year in this post.  Happy 4th of July! God bless the USA!
