Heading to the lake or pool and wondering what you need to pack in your beach bag? As an Indiana girl, I spend all summer at the lake or pool and I feel like I've nailed down the necessities to keep in your beach bag. In this post I am sharing all of my beach bag essentials that I keep packed all summer long.

First things first, you need a cute beach bag that is also functional! I've linked some of my favorites for you below.
Alright, now let's jump into the beach bag essentials list!
sun protection
The most important beach bag essential item on the list is sunscreen! I've learned that sometimes the ingredients in sunscreen can be more harmful than actual sun exposure, so I really try to buy clean sunscreens. I like this spray sunscreen for my body because it's easy to rub in and smells good. This face sunscreen has a little bit of a tint and shimmer, so it's perfect to wear instead of makeup! Don't forget chapstick with SPF because there is seriously nothing worse than sunburned lips! Pro tip: reapply sunscreen using a beauty blender sponge so you don't have to get your hands greasy or sticky!
A cute hat is perfect for some extra sun protection and make sure to remember sunglasses! These are my all time favorite sunglasses. So cute and durable and this brand always has BOGO sales!
in the sun
If you have long hair you're going to want to make sure that you have something to hold your hair back just in case you want to keep it dry or it's just hot with it down. These are my favorite no crease hair ties and these silk scrunchies come in such cute colors for summer! I love claw clips to clip on your beach bag for an extra cute accessory!
You're definitely going to want to pack a towel in your beach bag. I highly recommend a Turkish towel because you can fold it up really tightly in your beach bag because they are so thin. They get more absorbent with every wash and they also work great as a blanket if you're cold. Think about cozying up with one sitting around a fire making s'mores!
after sun care
My favorite natural sunburn relief product is this Lavaderm after sun spray. It's a cooling spray lotion with aloe and essential oils that feels so good on your skin after a long day in the sun!
I also love keeping a mini wet brush and hair detangling spray in my beach bag as well. No need to buy any fancy detangling spray, I make my own! In a spray bottle I mix water, conditioner, and some essential oils just for fun! Lavender, cedarwood, and rosemary essential oils help stimulate hair growth so I like to add those into my diy detangling spray!
